Dr. David W. Peters Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. David W. Peters Scholarship was established by the family of Dr. Peters in honor of his many contributions to not only Radford University, but to the enhancement of equal education for women. Much of his career was dedicated to combating the prejudices of women as less intelligent and unable to be successful in their career. Dr. Peters succeeded Dr. John Preston McConnell as the second president of Radford College in January of 1938. He remained president until his death in 1951. Peters Hall, named for Dr. Peters, houses the department of dance and the College of Education and Human Development.

The scholarship is restricted to an entering freshman in the College of Education and Human Development who qualifies for the Radford Presidential Scholarship Program, or to a currently enrolled undergraduate student who has a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and pursuing teaching licensure.

If you meet the qualifications for this award, the RU Admission’s Office will notify you via email to complete the application process.
