Beth Carlson Nelson Scholarship

In honor of her many years of dedication and commitment to enhancing the field of education, a scholarship fund was established in the name of Dr. Beth Carlson Nelson, `55. Dr. Nelson, who received degrees from Radford College, Virginia Tech, and University of Virginia, made quite extensive contributions to the elementary, secondary, collegiate, and international levels of teaching. Having once served as the President of the Virginia Education Association, Dr. Nelson was also responsible for directing Virginia’s only Center for Cognitive Teaching and Learning. Dr. Nelson passed away in April of 2007.

Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership, be pursuing initial license or endorsement, and must maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA undergraduate and a 3.0 GPA graduate. Priority given, but not restricted to, students who require financial aid.
