James C. Turk, Jr. & Allison Blanding Turk Scholarship

Scholarship Information

This scholarship was first awarded in 2008. Allison Turk is a 1993 RU graduate who majored in Journalism. Jimmy Turk is an attorney in Blacksburg. Mr. Turk’s parents are The Honorable and Mrs. James C. Turk, who have endowed three scholarships at Radford University. His brother, the Honorable Robert “Bobby” M.D. Turk and his wife, Laura Beitz Turk `87, M.S. `90 also have an endowment at RU. And his brother, D. Michael “Mick” Turk and his wife, Barbara Turk `87 are avid RU supporters. Mick was a former RU Rugby Coach. Jimmy and Allison wanted to create this scholarship to assist Radford University students who are majoring in Criminal Justice.

Scholarship Criteria

• Must be a full-time undergraduate student or enrolled in an approved internship program with a declared major in Criminal Justice.
• Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• Must not be, nor have ever been, on 20 or more weeks of disciplinary probation or suspension from any institution of higher learning.
• FAFSA required.
• Must reapply to be considered.
• Award may be renewable if recipient continues to meet eligibility criteria.
