Kevin Michael Coffey Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Mr. Alan F. Coffey, and his wife, Janet Potts, have established a scholarship fund in loving memory of their son, Kevin Michael Coffey. In his hometown of Reston, Virginia, Kevin was extremely active in the sport of swimming, and for two years, was a coach for the Reston Swim Team Association. While at Radford University, he continued his athletic endeavors, playing on the Rugby Team for three years. A communications major and member of Alpha Epsilon Rho, a national honor fraternity for broadcasters, Kevin was a gifted student who earned a place upon the Dean’s List. Kevin had been a rugby player at Radford University before his death in 1992, during a game with VPI.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Must be a full-time junior or senior enrolled at Radford for a minimum of two years.
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA, and a minimum 3.0 in applicant’s major.
  • Must remain registered as a full-time student.
  • Must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Must demonstrate campus involvement through clubs and organizations.
