Pollard/Lyon Scholarship for Teachers

Scholarship Information

This scholarship was established and endowed by Dr. Cynthia Pollard Lyon and her husband, Mr. James W. Lyon, IV in December of 2008. Its purpose is to assist deserving students who are specifically studying to become teachers. Dr. Cynthia Lyon is a 1969 RU graduate who majored in business education. She received a Doctorate of Education from NOVA Southeastern University and worked for The College Board for 9 years, James was a banker specializing in mergers and acquisitions.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Applicants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Be a full-time Interdisciplinary Studies student, working towards a BS/BA degree with Teaching Licensure.
  • Applicants must also demonstrate financial need.
  • FAFSA required.
