Dr. Mary Brigid Gallagher Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Information

This scholarship was established in 1985 as a memorial to a dedicated teacher. Dr. Gallagher was a professor in the Speech department and was well liked by all. Dr. Gallagher died unexpectedly, at age 64, only four months before her retirement. Her friends, family and faculty created the scholarship in order to provide financial assistance to students in the Speech department.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Must have a declared major in either the Speech Communication or Radio-TV concentration within the Speech major.
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and 3.0 in Communication.
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities in extracurricular or community activities.
  • Must not be, nor ever have been, on 20 weeks or more of disciplinary probation or suspension from any academic institution of higher learning.
  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student with upper level standing.
  • Previous recipients of the Gallagher Memorial Scholarship are ineligible to receive this award.
