Peter Dewitt Pruden & Phyllis Stancill Pruden Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Mr. and Mrs. Pruden have established an endowment that will provide scholarship support to students pursuing a degree in elementary education. The Radford University Foundation was chosen among 18 non-profit institutions to benefit from the Pruden’s generosity. Radford University’s commitment to teacher education and the preparation of teaching professionals were deciding factors in creating this scholarship. Mrs. Pruden was a resident of Radford, VA and is the widow of Mr. Godfrey Stancil, a member of the Radford University Board of Visitors in the 1970’s.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Students considered for this scholarship may be full-time undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.
  • They must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Must not be, nor ever have been, on disciplinary probation or suspension from any academic institution of higher learning.
  • Applicants must be of sound moral character as supported by a letter from a guidance counselor, church, or community leader.
  • FAFSA required.
