Winston & Elma Stanley Dowdy Freshman Scholarship

Scholarship Information

This award was established in memory of Mrs. Dowdy’s husband, Winston Dowdy. The scholarship recognizes the dedication, service and commitment of Mrs. Dowdy to her alma mater.

Mrs. Elma Dowdy graduated from Radford in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business education. She was a member of the RU National Alumni Association, a Member of the Society of 1910, and served on the Outstanding Alumni Awards Committee. She was been active in the university community since graduation, supporting many university projects.

Elma’s estate plan included RU and contributed to several scholarships in her name.

Scholarship Criteria

• Must be an undergraduate student.
• Must be in good academic standing.
