Pamela Cowan Sowder '79 Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Pam Sowder is a 1979 Radford University alumna that majored in Business Education. She is one of the founders of ItWorks. She was relentless and never gave up. In return ItWorks has been wildly successful. She is an inspiration to so many people and talks about her experience at Radford and how it was a place where should could reinvent herself. She said no one knew her and she could create the person she wanted to become. Pam wanted to give back and create a scholarship for teachers since that was what she went to school for. She wanted a scholarship for the best and brightest students who want to pursue a degree a teaching and truly wanted to make a difference.

Scholarship Criteria

  • The scholarship is for students majoring in a field of study within the School of Teacher Education and Leadership.
  • Recipients must have and maintain a 3.5 GPA.
  • Applicants must submit an essay describing their inspiration to pursue the teaching profession and how the applicant will give back to society and the teaching profession upon graduation.
