Willie G. Nelson, RN Endowed Nursing Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Mrs. Nelson was a retired nurse with no ties to Radford University. She was “adopted” by a benefactor when she went to nursing school at Columbia University in the late 1930’s. At the age of 91 she decided it was her time and turn to pay back her benefactor by becoming a benefactor herself. With the support of her family, she contacted RU and added Radford University as a benefactor of her estate to create this scholarship. She passed away in May, 2009 and left funds from her estate to endow this scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria

• Student must be majoring in Nursing at Radford University.
• Prior recipients are eligible, must reapply to be considered.
