Elbert H. and Evelyn J. Waldron Scholarship
Scholarship Information
Through a generous gift from the Waldron Charitable Foundations, the Waldron scholarship was established at Radford in 1981.
The Waldrons were very active and involved in the life of Radford University. Both Elbert and Evelyn Waldron served on the university’s Board of Directors. Radford honored the Waldrons by renaming the college The Elbert H. and Evelyn J. Waldron College of Nursing and Health Services. The Waldron name has long been associated with health care in Virginia. Elbert Waldron was chairman of Fralin & Waldron, which operates Medical Facilities of America, a group of nursing homes in Virginia.
The Waldron gift was motivated partly by the impressive quality of Radford students. Karen Waldron has served as vice-rector and rector of the Board of Visitors and continues to carry on the important work that her parents began before their deaths.
