Dr. Joseph P. Scartelli Endowed Scholarship in Music
Scholarship Information
Dr. Joseph P. Scartelli, Provost Emeritus, Professor Emeritus of Music and his wife Ms. Frances M. Scartelli `84 created this scholarship to provide support for students majoring in Music.
From 1981 through 1989, Dr. Scartelli held the position of Program Director of Music Therapy at Radford University. Since 1988, he has served as the Dean of CVPA and Professor of Music. In December of 2009, he accepted the position of Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Radford University, returning to the Dean of the CVPA in July of 2011. He served an additional term as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs from January till his retirement in June of 2020.
Scholarship Criteria
- Must be a Radford University student who is majoring in Music.
- Must be awarded to students who are Juniors and can be renewed through graduate status if student continues to meet the eligibility requirements.
- Must have and maintain a minimum 3.25 grade point average (GPA).
- Must demonstrate financial need, FAFSA required.
- Recipient/s to be chosen by a committee consisting of members of the Department of Music Faculty, based on demonstration of artistic and/or academic/research excellence.
