Elma Stanley Dowdy AASIS Scholarship and Program Fund

Mrs. Dowdy, lived in Laurel Fork, VA and established this scholarship through her estate plans. As a 1947 Radford College graduate in Business Education, Mrs. Dowdy worked as Controller for Michael Enterprises in Washington D.C. She was an active alumna and served on numerous fundraising volunteer committees for the University. Mrs. Dowdy was a member of The Society of 1910 and served the Radford University National Alumni Association as an Executive Council Member and as the Washington D.C. Area Alumni Chapter President. She received the RU Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. Mrs. Dowdy established several other scholarships to benefit Radford University students. Mrs. Dowdy passed away in 2007 with RU in her estate plans, which included gifts to three other scholarships in her name. Eligibility requirements include participation in the AASIS Program as a “Junior Scholar” for at least one year, two teacher recommendations, including one from the AASIS teacher who selected the scholar to participate in the program.

The applicant must be admitted to Radford University and timely complete the AASIS application packet.
