The Virginia Louise Carter Hills Endowed Scholarship in Literacy Education
Mrs. Hills, worked over 40 years to promote the profession of library science and established this scholarship for deserving students. Mrs. Hills, a founding member of the Radford Alumnae Club, earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in both Science and English from Radford College in 1942. She went on to receive her Masters of Science in 1951 from Catholic University. In addition to having held the position as Head Librarian for the National Geographic Society, Mrs. Hills worked with numerous community projects and charitable organizations. Mrs. Hills passed away in 2005. To apply, recipient must meet the requirements for the Radford University Freshman Scholarship Program.
