Dr. John E. Sycamore Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Information

In memory of John E. Sycamore, a former Radford University professor, faculty, friends, family, and alumni established this scholarship in order to assist a full-time rising senior at RU seeking teaching licensure in Mental Retardation or Early Childhood Special Education. Dr. Sycamore passed away in 1996. He was chair of the Department of Special Education and a devoted professor for many years. His presence is greatly missed at RU and his work and life is honored through this scholarship.

Scholarship Criteria

• Applicant must be a full-time rising senior seeking teaching licensure in Mental Retardation or Early Childhood Special Education.
• Must be admitted to Teacher Education with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Passing scores on the Praxis exam.
• Applicant must also be a member of the Council for Exceptional Children (Student Chapter, SCEC).
