M'Ledge Moffett Scholarship
This award was established through Dr. M’Ledge Moffett’s estate plan. Dean Moffett was associated with Radford during her entire professional career. She was appointed to the first faculty of Radford University as head of the department of Home Economics. She was named Dean of Women in 1920 and served in that position until her retirement in 1963. At that time she was the first woman appointed to the position of Dean in a Virginia college. An educator whom was active in the growth and development of Radford during its first 50 years wrote numerous articles and several books including, “The History of the State Teachers College of Radford for the First Two Decades”. Moffett Residence Hall at Radford University was named in her honor.
To qualify for this scholarship, applicant must qualify for the Freshmen Presidential Scholarship Program.
